Lise Gervais was born in St. Césaire, Rouville, Quebec in 1933. She was studied at the École des beaux-arts de Montréal from 1953 to 1954, where she counted among her teachers Jacques de Tonnancour, Stanley Cosgrove and Louis Archambault.
She was not a signatory of the Automatism’s manifesto but she evolved among them.
Gervais’s work can be found in the collection of the Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal, the National Gallery of Canada, the Albright-Knox Museum in Buffalo, New York, the Musée d’art Contemporain de Montréal.
She died in 1998 at the age of 65.
