Born in Rawdon (Québec) in 1958, lives and works in Montreal.

As much objects as images, François Lacasse’s paintings are elaborated through a process that takes place directly on the canvas itself. Characterized by an investment of colour (both in its materiality and its application processes), his recent work alludes to the history of abstract painting, more particularly the kind of painting done from the 50’s in America. The foundation of Lacasse’s pictorial practice relies mainly on an enumerative approach, within a complex tension between subjectivity and desire.
